🖨️ How to Print Passport Photos on a 4x6 Sheet at Home or at a Shop

By the MZScan team · Updated 17 October 2026 · 3 min read

A photo studio is not necessary when you only need a few passport-size pictures. You can prepare the photo on your phone, place several copies on one 4x6 sheet, and print it at a photo shop or on a home printer. This guide covers the size options, the steps in MZScan and the printing details that decide whether the photos come out the right size.

Check the size you need

The size depends on the country and the document. MZScan offers three: 35x45 mm (passport), 2x2 inch (visa) and 25x35 mm (small). Always read the instructions of the office or portal that will accept the photo, including the background colour and any rules about glasses, head position and recent date. Follow them exactly.

Take a good photo

Stand in front of a plain, light wall in even daylight. Ask someone to hold the phone at eye level, about one metre away, and look straight at the camera with a neutral expression. Avoid shadows on the face and on the wall behind you, and do not use filters. There is more detail in how to make a passport photo and signature at home.

Make the photo in MZScan

  1. Open ID Card, Photo and Signature and go to the photo section.
  2. Upload your photo, or take one with the live camera or your phone's camera app.
  3. Choose the size: 35x45 mm, 2x2 inch or 25x35 mm.
  4. Use Zoom, Left / Right and Up / Down to centre your face. Leave a little space above the head.

Single photo or 4x6 sheet

Choose Single photo for an online upload. Choose 4x6 sheet when you want several copies printed: the sheet places the photos together on a standard 4x6 inch print size, which every photo shop can print. Download the result and save it to your phone.

Print it

Cut the photos

Cut along the edges with a ruler and a sharp blade or a paper trimmer, so that each photo is the exact size. Measure one cut photo with a ruler to confirm that it is 35x45 mm (or the size you chose). If it is not, the printing scale was wrong. Print again at 100 percent.

When you only need a digital photo

For online forms, download a single photo and, if the portal sets a file-size limit, reduce it with the image compressor. See how to compress an image to 20, 50 or 100 KB.

Frequently asked questions

Which size is a passport photo?
It depends on the country. Many passport applications use 35x45 mm, and many visa forms ask for 2x2 inch. Check your instructions.

Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is processed in your browser.

Why are my printed photos too small?
The printer probably scaled the page. Print again at 100 percent or actual size, with no fit-to-page option.

Your files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
